Marnixkade Canalview Apartments are located in the Jordaan. The Jordaan is generally considered Amsterdam’s most charming historical neighbourhood. The narrow streets and canals were originally home to Amsterdam’s many artisan workshops. Rembrandt van Rijn even had his studio in this area.
Built just outside the three most central canals where Amsterdam’ s wealthy merchant class lived during Holland’s Golden Era, the Jordaan was always teeming with industry like carpentry workshops, breweries and distilleries. Today you will find well maintained buildings predominately from the 17th and 18th century in the Jordaan. In addition to being a largely residential area, today’s Jordaan features artist and crafts studios as well an array of small and very diverse restaurants. During your visit you will want to spend some time strolling through this neighborhood.
